Extraordinary Situation Proclaimed in Los Angeles County

On December 5, 2017 Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. proclaimed a state of emergency in Los Angeles County as a result of the Creek and Rye fires, which have destroyed homes and other structures necessitating the evacuation of thousands of residents. Consequently, Commissioner of Business Oversight Jan Lynn Owen has determined that an extraordinary situation exists in Los Angeles County and has issued a proclamation authorizing state-chartered banks to close any or all of their offices in affected areas until the Commissioner determines the extraordinary condition has ended.
