Consumer Alert – The PACE Program California
The Department of Business Oversight has become aware of a business entity calling itself “The PACE Program California,” that is promoting a filtering system that purportedly kills most viruses, including the novel coronavirus. The entity’s website at www.pace-ca.us and print advertising also contain information about installing energy-efficient products through California’s PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) program. Both the website and print advertisement are designed to be confusingly similar to a California government agency with a logo similar to the California state seal. The PACE Program California is not a state government agency. In addition, The PACE Program California is not an enrolled PACE solicitor in California and, as such, is not allowed to solicit PACE financing in the state. The company lists its headquarters at 500 Capitol Mall, Suite 2350, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The PACE Program California advertises a “Covid-19 (Corona Virus 2020) Alert” and “PACE virus filtration package” that “kills 99.9% of viruses.” The Department encourages consumers to thoroughly check the veracity of such claims associated with any system considered for purchase.
If you have been contacted by The PACE Program California, please notify the Department of Business Oversight, Consumer Services Office at (866) 275-2677 or at Ask.DBO@dbo.ca.gov.
