As of Feb. 2023, Social Security statements (SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S) can be accessed online for the first time. These statements are sent annually to report Social Security income on tax returns. Recipients can now request a replacement copy or access their statement via their online Social Security account.

NEWS & UPDATES 

• DFPI Takes Possession of Silicon Valley Bank: A state-chartered bank based in Santa Clara, CA, citing inadequate liquidity and insolvency. The DFPI appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as the receiver of Silicon Valley Bank.
• Silvergate Bank: The DFPI announced that Silvergate Bank, based in La Jolla, CA, began the process of voluntary liquidation. 
• The DFPI Continues Crackdown on Student Loan Debt Relief Companies: EDU Doc Support, LLC, an Orange County based student debt relief company, was ordered to rescind all debt relief, debt management, or debt consulting service agreements and provide refunds to California consumers. 
• Crypto Scam Tracker: The Scam Tracker Website is a searchable database of crypto complaints received by the DFPI with a glossary to help consumers understand scam structures.
