The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is the technical engine that supports and drives all IT functions for the DFPI. Its mission is to support the department by delivering innovative and proven technology solutions. This allows DFPI programs to focus on protecting and serving our constituents.

Our Teams

Application Development – Maintenance & Operations

The Application Development unit plays a critical role in the development and maintenance of software applications. By following best practices, using standard methodologies, and working closely with other internal teams, they ensure that applications are securely developed on time and within budget. The unit follows iterative processes to gather and analyze business requirements, design, develop, test, and deploy software applications. Once in production, they maintain and support those applications to meet the evolving needs of the department’s business programs.

Enterprise Architecture

The Enterprise Architecture unit focuses on the business, application, information, and technology perspectives to build a departmental digital transformation blueprint that seamlessly integrates legacy and state-of-the-art new technologies to address current as well as future technological needs.

IT Service Desk

The IT Service Desk is the department’s front line contact point for technical solutions. The Service Desk provides efficient and knowledgeable support, addressing technology-related inquiries and concerns to keep the department’s systems running seamlessly.

Network

The IT Network team manages the DFPI networks to ensure seamless and reliable connectivity, enabling data and communication to flow effortlessly between devices and users. With robust infrastructure and advanced technologies, we deliver a responsive and secure network environment that empowers DFPI’s users to better serve Californians.

Project and Portfolio Management Office

The Planning and Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) orchestrates the planning and implementation of IT projects with a strong emphasis on standardization and repeatability. This includes the project selection process, standardizing and improving project management processes, oversight and best practices. These services enable the ITSD to execute projects successfully and deliver value to stakeholders.

The PPMO also provides IT Contract Management services to ensure IT contracts are developed, procured and administered following State Policies and Guidelines.

Security

The IT Security unit establishes, maintains, and enforces electronic and physical information security and access standards for the department by utilizing strategies that include policies, procedures, and tools. They work to ensure that employees have access to the information they require, while preventing unauthorized access to computers, networks, and data. They strive to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of DFPI’s sensitive information while abiding by the security standards set forth by the California Department of Technology and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
