The California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) has received information that the WhatsApp numbers (609) 381-3317 and (304) 415-7415 are being used to falsely pose as licensed investment advisers. Please be advised that these WhatsApp numbers are not associated with any licensed investment adviser in California.
The individual using the WhatsApp number (609) 381-3317, identifying herself as “Mia Worrell,” claims to be an assistant at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated (“Stifel”). Stifel has never employed a person named Mia Worrell. The individual using the WhatsApp number (304) 415-7415, identifying himself as “Thomas B Michaud,” falsely claims to be Thomas B. Michaud who is a registered representative of Stifel.
The imposters are falsely claiming affiliation with Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated, which is a legitimate California-licensed investment adviser (CRD number 793).
The DFPI urges consumers to exercise extreme caution before responding to any solicitation offering investment or financial services. To check whether an investment or financial service provider is licensed in California, or to submit a complaint, consumers should go to the DFPI website at dfpi.ca.gov or call 1-866-275-2677.
