California Coalition for Financial Empowerment
What Is the California Coalition for Financial Empowerment?
The California Coalition for Financial Empowerment is a new community-led regional initiative that will bring together government agencies, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders. The mission is to build a coalition that develops and implements collective solutions to consumer financial protection/inclusion challenges.
The coalition aims to foster economic mobility and expand generational wealth-building opportunities for underserved populations, creating a financially empowered California where everyone can thrive.
How Does It Work?
The Coalition will operate through regionally based networks, meeting regularly both virtually and in person. Here’s how they can make a difference:
- Collaboration: Bringing together stakeholders to address specific local needs.
- Resources: Providing resources, educational materials, and capacity building.
- Actionable Work Plans: Developing actionable work plans through working groups, focusing on key areas of consumer financial protection/inclusion.

The first regional chapter will launch in the Central San Joaquin Valley Coalition, encompassing Madera, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare Counties. This chapter will serve as a platform for collaborations, knowledge sharing, and capacity building to engage unbanked/underbanked communities in the Central San Joaquin Valley.
