(San Francisco, CA) ” The California Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) today announced”the closure of Tamalpais Bank,”due to the bank’s inadequate capital and weakened condition.

Tamalpais Bank is a federally insured, state-chartered commercial bank based in San Rafael with total assets of approximately $611 million and total deposits of approximately $457 million. Its deposits are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

The DFI appointed the FDIC as receiver of Tamalpais Bank.” The FDIC has accepted a bid from Union Bank, N.A., of San Francisco, California, to acquire Tamalpais Bank and assume its deposits, including all uninsured deposits.
