Description

A California resident reported meeting an individual on a matrimony site who claimed to be a business owner from Georgia. After establishing a relationship, the Georgia friend brought up the topic in investing in crypto assets. The friend provided instructions, including over video calls, on how to open and account on coinget.finance and transfer funds to trade crypto assets. But when the victim tried to withdraw funds, the platform demanded they pay taxes and “security deposits” first. The victim has been unable to recover any funds and the website is no longer operational. All told, the victim lost nearly $75,000 on the platform.
