Description

Two California residents reported on their experience with the crypto asset trading platform operating at lgdbite.com. The first victim met an individual online through a dating website. At some point, the online date mentioned that they invested in cryptocurrency and made a 10% return and convinced the victim to invest. Following their date’s instructions, the victim opened an account on the platform and deposited funds to invest. At first, the victim believed that they earned profits as promised. Then, their date convinced the victim to invest additional funds on the platform and even told the victim that they would contribute money to help invest. After investing additional funds, the victim tried to withdraw funds, but the platform demanded a fee first. The victim paid, but then their date stopped communicating and they cannot recover their funds from the platform. All told the victim lost $5,000.

The second victim reported meeting an individual online who taught them to use the platform to trade crypto assets. At the direction of the individual, the victim opened an account and transferred funds onto the platform to invest. At first, the victim believed they were making profitable trades. But when the victim tried to withdraw funds, the platform demanded a “25% certification fee,” and stated it would deduct $10,000 per day from the account if the “certification fee” was not paid. The victim has not been able to recover their funds from the platform, and the website is no longer operational.
